RESEARCH INTERESTs

My research interests mainly lie in Diophantine Approximation, a rapidly developing area of Analytic Number Theory. They are linked with a wide range of other topics including combinatorics on words, homogeneous dynamics, measure theory and ergodic theory. One of my most recent research activities is investigating the density of rational points in Rn that lie very close to a given curve, with emphasis to the Veronese curve Vn . This problem is closely related to the one about the distribution of algebraic points of bounded height and degree on the real line. I am also investigating the sets of badly approximable points in Rn and more generally in complete metric spaces, and the approximational properties of Mahler numbers and Mahler functions.

My research aligns with the Faculty of Science Research Strengths. Understanding the Universe, Fundamental Laws of Nature, Complex Systems, Cultivating Scientific Capability.
