RESEARCH INTERESTs
I am a public health scientist with research interests in the social and behavioural determinants of health and in the development and evaluation of public health interventions. I have also made a significant contributions to public policy development in Australia and the UK.
Over the past 25 years health literacy has been a major forcus for my research through collaborations with colleagues internationally. This has included a series of studies testing health literacy interventions.
In my current role as Executive Director of Sydney Health Parters I have a significant engagement in research translation into health care and public health practice.
My Google Scholar profile (November 2025) indicates 38,000 lifetime citations (17,000 in the past 5 years); and an H-index of 70 (44 in the past 5 years).
In the 2025 Scholar GPS global rankings I was ranked #1 most cited author globally in the disciplines of health promotion; and health literacy.
