PhD Purdue

David Ubilava received his PhD in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University in 2010. His research revolves around agricultural markets and prices, with a specific focus on investigating the causes and consequences of political violence in developing countries. Dr. Ubilava has established an international reputation for his research, which applies granular data to study fundamental societal issues that cause or are consequences of global commodity price movements.

David Ubilava's research has been published in leading field and interdisciplinary journals such as American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Health Economics, World Development, and Global Environmental Change, among others.

Dr. Ubilava currently serves as an associate editor of the American Journal of Agricultural Economics (from 2022 onward) and a co-editor of Food Policy (from 2018 onward). Previously, he served as an associate editor for the Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (from 2020 to 2021).
