David completed a PhD in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Sydney in 1985. He has held academic positions in Australia, New Zealand and the US. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of California Berkeley in 1987-1989 and was the National Australia Bank Professor of Finance at the University of Sydney during 2007-2017. He held a British Commonwealth Postdoctoral Fellows at the University of Lancaster for the year 1985-6. David is currently a Professor in the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Wollongong, where as an undergraduate student he completed joint Arts (Econometrics) and Commerce (Accounting and Finance) degrees in 1980, graduating with First Class Honours. He has been engaged in major consulting activities by various regulatory agencies in Australia and was recently appointed to the Australian Energy Regulator’s Panel of Experts in their review of electricity pricing in Australia.
