RESEARCH INTERESTs
1. The concept of Multispecies Justice.
How does Justice need to be reconceptualised to take seriously the flourishing of all Earth beings and the relational web that supports them?
2. Living Multispecies Justice
What affective capacities and living practices will be required to provide the felt, embodied and affective infrastructure for recognising the claims, needs and interests of beings other than humans? How do differently placed human individuals and groups cultivate the dispositions that will allow them to be alive to their embeddedness in, and immanent relationship with the more-than-human?
3. Institutionalising Multispecies Justice
How should the various dimensions of justice - distributive, procedural, recognition, and transitional be institutionalised to recognise and deliver justice for the more-than-human? What would justice for past atrocities entail and how could practices of reparative and transitional justice be developed in relation to the more-than-human? In asking these questions, my work insists on a fluid movement between research that takes us into the world of practice and lively theoretical reflection informed by and informing those practices.
4. Climate Imaginaries
What types of imaginaries or background worldviews shape how different people and groups orient themselves to, and act with respect to a climate changing world? How can those imaginaries be transformed, including through action?
