- From 2015 to 2020 he was Director of the Automatic Control Chair at Paderborn University, Germany.
- Since 2023 he has served as a voting Member of the Committee of Experts and Excellence Commission for the Excellence Strategy of the German Federal and State Governments.
- Since 2026 he has been an elected Member of the IEEE Control Systems Society Board of Governors, setting strategic direction, providing necessary resources, and making key decisions to meet member needs.
