BIO

Clinical Associate Professor Damian Marucci is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon with a special interest in paediatric craniofacial surgery. He is the clinical-lead of the multidisciplinary Craniofacial Surgery Unit at the Children's Hospital at Westmead. In addition, he has a diverse adult plastic surgery practice involving reconstructive surgery after cancer, facial trauma, facial cosmetic surgery and body contouring surgery. His main areas of research are around clinical outcomes in the treatment of craniosynostosis. He is a demonstrator for the Masters of Surgery Anatomy for the GSSE course.

Clinical Associate Professor Marucci obtained his MB BS with a concurrent BA from the University of Sydney. He later returned to USYD to complete a PhD in Surgery. He was the inaugural recipient of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Surgeon Scientist Scholarship. After obtaining in Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, he completed fellowships in Oxford, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the King Edward VII Hospital in London.

Clinical Associate Professor Marucci is involved with teaching medical students and registrars through structured regular teaching sessions at the Children's Hospital at Westmead. He is the Podcast Editor for the Journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open and hosts the bi monthly Keynotes podcast. He is the current Honorary Treasurer for the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, on the Education Committee of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and is a member of the Design, Monitoring and Evaluation Sub Committee of Interplast Australia and New Zealand. He is part of the annual Interplast program to Samoa where he mainly performs cleft lip and palate surgery.
