LEARNING & TEACHING SUMMARy
Dr Hartney is an exciting and dynamic lecturer who leads the first year units RLST1002 "Sacred: The 10 Books that Made Our World" and RLST1005 "Cults, Conspiracies, and Fundamentalisms". The first of these is a sweeping overview of the most read sacred texts of our planet, their reception, wisdom, and cultural uses. The second unit examines the way sacred systems and compelling myths support but also challenge and threaten our Modern existence and its complex conditions.
He also lectures in the specialist third year units RLST3606 "Sacred Creativity" and RLST3608 "Apocalyptic Leadership and Cosmic War".
Dr Hartney is available to supervise students wishing to prepare for the PhD level in the field of religions through the University's M.Arts (research) program.
At the level of doctoral supervision, he has significant experience in guiding appropriately qualified candidates through the critical study of religion leading to PhD compleition.
