BIO
Chirag Parsania is an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Sydney and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centenary Institute, working under the leadership of Dr Chuck Bailey. His research focuses on gene regulation and epigenetic mechanisms underlying immune responses, gene therapy, and rare diseases, with a strong emphasis on bioinformatics and computational biology.
He has extensive experience analysing bulk and single-cell sequencing data, including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, and DNA methylation (methylome) datasets. His work spans a wide range of biological systems, from model yeast and pathogenic and non-pathogenic fungi to mammalian systems including human, mouse, and cell line models. He is actively involved in establishing end-to-end computational pipelines and developing research software and R packages to support reproducible, scalable genomic analyses.
Chirag is actively engaged in mentoring and supervising MD, Honours, and Master’s students and is passionate about training the next generation of scientists in data-driven biology, bioinformatics, and open-source research practices. He collaborates widely across institutes and contributes to publications, grant development, and translational research initiatives.
