Chinmay Pattnaik is the Academic Director (International) and Professor in the Discipline of International Business at the University of Sydney Business School. He also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Asia Pacific Journal of Management (ABDC A) and holds the prestigious John H. Dunning Visiting Fellow of International Business at the Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK.
Chinmay's research explores corporate and global strategies, with a particular focus on how formal and informal institutional contexts influence strategic decision making in multinational enterprises (MNEs) and their performance implications. His work critically evaluates and enriches existing theories by exploring under-studied contextual dimensions across varied institutional environments, including Korea, India, the United States, and China. He is widely recognized as a leading author in the field of international management in the Indian context. His research has been extensively published in top-tier academic journals such as the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of World Business, Human Resource Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Global Strategy Journal, Management International Review and Asia Pacific Journal of Management, among others. He is also the co-editor of the book Emerging Market Firms in Global Economy published by Emerald Publishing UK.
Chinmay frequently lectures on corporate and global strategies of firms to students and industry participants. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Asia Academy of Management and is an active member of several academic associations, including the Academy of International Business and the Academy of Management.
