Ché has degrees in Physiology and Biomedical Engineering. For his Ph.D. he built, patented and tested a cycle ergometer that allows people with paralysis to exercise their legs with electrical muscle stimulation.
His research activities focus on exploring the potential of sport, voluntary exercise, and electrical stimulation exercise to promote health in persons with neurological injury or disease (e.g. spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, peripheral nerve disease). Ché has an international patent on a design for electrical stimulation exercise equipment and is the secretary of the Australian Physical Disability Rugby League Association. Ché is a member of the International Functional Electrical Stimulation Society, Australia New Zealand Spinal Cord Injury Network and the International Spinal Cord Society.
