Charles is a veterinary epidemiologist specialising in diagnostic test and surveillance evaluation, aquatic animal health, and evidence‑based decision-making. His research spans aquatic epidemiology, wildlife health, and pathogen surveillance, with more than 80 peer‑reviewed publications and extensive funding across national and international projects. Charles has supervised numerous HDR students and is an invited speaker at global veterinary and epidemiology conferences. He recognised for advancing quantitative methods that support planetary health and contributes to regional and international biosecurity initiatives.
