BIO

I am an art historian of medieval and early modern Italy and the Iberian world, working at the intersection of visual culture, religious life, and intellectual history, with particular interests in gender and sexuality, materiality, and the ways artworks shape—and are shaped by—social and environmental change. My recent and forthcoming writing also explores topics including women artists, wax sculpture and the body, devotion and relics, collecting histories, and early modern representations of masculinity, heresy, and violence. Alongside teaching and research, I have over ten years of professional experience in museums and curatorial work.
