DrCarlos Ivan Mesa Castrillon

Carlos is a lecturer in AgHealth Australia (previously known as Australian Centre for Agricultural Health & Safety) at the School of Rural Health, The University of Sydney, Orange, New South Wales, Australia. Carlos is also co-coordinator of the MD research program for third-year medical students in the School of Rural Health. He is a physiotherapist (Colombia graduate) and holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in health sciences (PhD, Australia graduate), with extensive experience in teaching and supporting students at all levels of education. Carlos is currently an associate editor of the Australian Journal of Rural Health. He has over two years of experience in managing randomized clinical trials for musculoskeletal conditions. He was a trial coordinator for the EMPOWER study, a trial of telehealth, which informed telehealth guidelines for musculoskeletal pain in rural Australia. The research was funded by Medibank Better Health Foundation and the University of Sydney. He coordinated the development of the My Back Exercise app, a project funded by the Faculty of Medicine and Health, and was also a Research Assistant for the Get Back to Healthy randomised controlled trial, a study funded by the National Health Medical Research Council.
