DrBryony Winters

Dr Winters is a Senior Lecturer and research group leader in the School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine and Health. Dr Winters completed her PhD in 2013 at the University of Bristol (UK). She then moved to Sydney to start her postdoctoral career in the Discipline of Pharmacology (2013-2016) and then in the Pain Management Research Insitute (2016-2022). She began her teaching and research academic position at the University of Sydney in 2022 and she established her research laboratory in the Charles Perkins Centre in 2024.

Dr Winters is interested in understanding changes to neuronal communication between brain regions that have been implicated in chronic pain and addiction disorders. The Winters Lab has specific expertise in electrophysiology and optogenetic techniques and apply these techniques to understand how synaptic transmission and synaptic plasticty is regulated and altered in neuronal circuits that influence pain and addictive behaviours.
