Therapeutic targeting of interleukin22 for severe paediatric urinary tract infection and associated renal complications
    1 Jan 2021 - 31 Dec 2024
As a CI-B, I contributed to the conception of the project that was awarded the NHMRC Ideas grant in 2021. Hst pathogen interaction at the initial checkpoint is now recognised to be an important predictor or recurrence, chronicity and morbidity in paediatric UTis. The project aims to evaluate in vitro and in vivo etiopathogenetic mechanisms and translational therapeutic strategies for recurrent and chronic urinary tract infections focussed on the mucosal immunology of the urinary tract. Two higher research degree students have been involved in assimilating these data into translational strategies.

HNEkidshealth Innovation Scholarship to Improve Healthcare Communication in Intestinal Failure
    1 Jan 2018
Babies with short gut syndrome (intestinal failure) need a long hospital stay with multiple interventions involving many different teams of medical, nursing and allied health personnel. This often results in poorly perceived care. We approached this problem using qualitative methodology and produced data and intervention strategies to improve the perceived care.

Educational Grant to Develop Resources for Health Care Practitioners in Nocturnal Enuresis
    1 Jan 2017
The aim of this project was to capacity build primary care practitioners in treating bedwetting which is a commonly prevalent community paediatric problem. An online free resource has been generated which is freely accessible to all Australians and caters separately to parents, nurses, primary care doctors and specialists. It has been widely used since its release in 2017.
