RESEARCH INTERESTs
Angela's research focus covers a range of audit and assurance issues aimed at improving our understanding of the assurance practice. Her earlier research focused on Australian Auditing Standard setting process which was tabled at an AUASB meeting, to more recently examining non-financial information (NFI) reporting and assurance in both developing country and public sector context. Her PhD specifically focused on assurance of natural resource management, framed around the key elements of assurance practice utilising a longitudinal case study with data collected from multiple sources, contributing to contemporary NFI private and public sectors audit and assurance literatures.
Angela has recently been selected to collaborate on a number of audit research projects specifically on audit teams, data analytics and emerging technologies, given her links to audit practitioners. Angela is a keen mentor to PG auditing students and is interested in student engagement and Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) programs and how assessment design promotes graduate employment ready skills.
Angela is continually seeking opportunities to build her research profile and is keen to continue her work with colleagues across institutions, in addition to opportunities with audit practitioners, the audit profession and the AUASB. Angela is currently working with professional service forms both in creating teaching resources for students and in research grant projects seeking to understand how audit team attributes/functions & emerging technologies promote audit quality. Methodologically, Angela is interested in the richness and complexity of case studies utilising interview processes, but is also broadening her methods to survey instruments. Angela continues to be involved with the audit profession, and is currently examining technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and the impact on the audit profession.
