BIO
Andrew is a Senior Lecturer in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies (ITLS), and discipline coordinator for the Global Logistics specialisation in the Master of Commerce. He obtained first class honours in a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) / Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy). For his PhD research, he was awarded the prestigious Eric Pas Dissertation Prize by the International Association for Travel Behaviour Research. Andrew has broad research interests, with a particular focus on the behavioural influences of decision makers in the fields of logistics, supply chain management, and transport.
Andrew's research includes understanding the decisions of practising supply chain managers, including their evaluation of supplier sustainability performance, and consideration of supplier base diversification as a risk mitigation strategy. He is also interested in the decisions of consumers as they select alternative logistics services. Andrew has made methodological contributions, in the areas of discrete choice modelling, choice heuristics, and stated choice experimental design. His publication record includes top tier journals such as Transportation Research Parts A, B and E, Transportation, Information and Management, and the Journal of Travel Research.
Andrew has taught a range of units since 2010. He is currently teaching ITLS5250 Foundation in Global Logistics, which introduces students studying Global Logistics within the Master of Commerce to the full gamut of logistics and supply chain management concepts. He particularly enjoys teaching the highly topical ITLS6015 Managing Supply Chain Disruption, as there is a constant stream of disruptions and risks facing modern supply chains. Previous teaching has included ITLS6002 Supply Chain Planning and Design, BUSS7904 Advanced Quantitative Methods, and the five day course on Discrete Choice Analysis taught by ITLS to academics, PhD students, consultants and government employees from a wide range of disciplines, including marketing, health economics, environmental economics, and transportation.
As discipline coordinator for the Global Logistics specialisation in the Master of Commerce, Andrew promotes the specialisation, and advises students on both their current studies, and their future careers. In addition to his academic pursuits, Andrew has consulted for government, industry and banks, in the areas of transport infrastructure demand modelling, and freight transport. Andrew is a co-developer of Ngene, the leading software package for generating experimental designs for discrete choice experiments.
