BIO

Andres Rodriguez Corcho is a PostDoc researcher in the School of Geosciences at the University of Sydney. He is interested on understanding how the feedback between subduction dynamics and surface processes affect the landscape evolution of accretionary continental margins. Understanding the feedback between subduction dynamics and surfaces processes is key for quantifying the preservation potential and availability of critical mineral resources that will fuel energy transition and are often found in accretionary margins. His expertise encompasses the acquisition and interpretation of geochronological data, the design and development of tectonic and paleogeographic reconstructions, and the thermo-mechanical modelling of a wide range of geodynamic settings such as subduction zones and continental rifts. Andres started his career in Colombia with the creation of a deforming model of North-western South America and the Caribbean and the development of regional geochronological databases. Andres completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne and his current postdoctoral research is being developed within the STELLAR project, an academy-industry collaboration that aims to fuel the transition to a low-emissions economy.
