SERVICE & LEADERSHIP SUMMARy
Aek actively contributes to the School and Faculty through roles such as:
- Postgraduate Coursework Coordinator (SSESW)
- Program Coordinator for the Master of Education (TESOL) and Master of TESOL Curriculum
- Special Project and Dissertation Coordinator (SSESW)
- Convenor, University of Sydney TESOL Research Forum
- Editor-in-Chief, University of Sydney Journal of TESOL
Beyond the University, Aek has served the wider academic community through national and international leadership positions. Aek was Associate Editor of Language Assessment Quarterly, a leading international journal, and served as Vice President of ALTAANZ (Association for Language Testing and Assessment of Australia and New Zealand, 2015–2017). Aek currently holds the position of Vice President (President-elect) of AALA (Applied Linguistics Association of Australia), which will transition to the presidency of the Association.
Aek remains committed to advancing scholarly engagement and academic governance at faculty, university, and disciplinary levels. Currently, Aek serves as Editor-in-Chief of the University of Sydney Journal of TESOL and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Language Testing in Focus.
